Rainbows

We understand that choosing the right mixture of care and education to enable the best transition to school is extremely important. Children usually join preschool at around 3 years old and from the first time you visit we will work with you to ensure that you and your child are comfortable in our surroundings.

With over 120 years of combined experience in Early Years Education between the preschool team and an evident passion for child development, children will thrive in this creative and empowering environment. Our preschool room have been purposefully designed to provide a stimulating and challenging environment. They are located on the ground floor and have direct access to our enclosed gardens.

Usually by this age children are much more independent, and we love hearing all their wonderful and inquisitive ideas that shape our learning environment. We have a thoughtfully resourced creative area, book area, role play area and wide variety of open-ended items to stimulate their imagination and problem-solving skills. A selection of writing materials is always available so that children can practice ‘mark making’ and emergent writing. Our book areas are full of all kinds of reading material, from magazines and encyclopaedias, to poetry and cookery books, the team are highly skilled in story-telling and also encourage the children to create their own stories.

Physical activity and fresh air are important for all of us, but we are extremely passionate about engendering a love of exercise and fresh air from the earliest age. Preschool children take part in our very own Forest School learning programme, which has been proven to increase resilience, listening, concentration and team work. Group times and early phonics activities are an integral part of the daily routine, encouraging and enabling children to share their thoughts and ideas, evaluate the activities they have taken part in and talk about themselves and their families.

Every year we hold a School Leavers Workshop facilitated by our team and a local reception teacher to help you prepare for this next transition and understand what ‘school readiness’ really means. We have a great relationship with the local schools, with most of the reception teachers visiting nursery during the summer term. Our aim is for children to leave us confident, curious and independent with a lifelong love of learning.
